The aim of the project is to build life skills, responsible behavior and resistance to crime, drug use and violence among young people in Bishkek and Chui oblast through the use and promotion of sports.
Physical education and sport are vital for the development of young people, as they contribute to the strengthening of their physical, social and mental health. Physical education and sports also provide both boys and girls with positive experiences in building a sense of cohesion, commitment and a sense of support, and contribute to positive changes in their relationships by encouraging cooperation, understanding, tolerance and harmony between members of different walks of life.
The project will increase adaptive and positive behavior, thereby eliminating the vulnerabilities associated with crime, violence and drug use. Involving popular young athletes and successful personalities as ambassadors in favor of a safe and healthy lifestyle will help attract unorganized and marginalized youth leading an asocial lifestyle.
To achieve the desired changes in the project, several different methods and approaches will be used. The approaches “Peer to Peer” and “Leader of Public Opinion” will help to increase the knowledge of youth, the formation or strengthening of attitudes and values associated with risky and illegal behavior. Priority will be given to active teaching methods.
The project is complex and includes several different interventions (the acquisition of life skills is combined with a change in the psychological climate and a change in the relevant characteristics of the environment).
