Youth for Peaceful Development

Why is the project important?

As part of the activities in the pilot municipalities, the Youth Development Institute, together with partners, took the first steps that will contribute to improving the situation of youth:
• Creation of a regular communication platform for building effective interaction between local self-government, religious leaders and youth leaders, law enforcement agencies to create an atmosphere of trust between all groups of society. After several meetings, community representatives were surprised by the activity and initiative of young people, which allowed young activists to build cooperation with local governments and expand opportunities for participation in the decision-making process regarding socio-economic life in communities.
• Increasing the potential of local government specialists responsible for working with youth through 6-month training courses on the basis of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as youth leaders in the framework of the Dilgir module training, creation of youth initiative groups to promote the interests of youth and their participation in community development
• Gathering information and analyzing the needs of young people in pilot communities to develop local youth development strategies that take into account the interests of all youth groups, especially young people from vulnerable groups (women, people with disabilities, orphans, children from single-parent and dysfunctional families, and those in difficult life situation). Here are a few examples, the views of youth on the ground
• Work to create and / or revitalize and strengthen the work of municipal youth centers. Strengthening the legal, organizational capacity and improving the material and technical base of municipal youth centers.
• Strengthening the participation of youth from vulnerable groups through the provision of alternative courses on personal growth and the formation of critical thinking and life skills on the basis of municipal youth centers.

At the end of 2018, the economic component - “Enhancing economic opportunities for youth” was launched.

The aim of the project is the creation and implementation of youth action plans (MTDs) to prevent the risks of radicalization of youth and the spread of violent extremism.
